This is a collection of 2,400 quarter peal compositions, from doubles to sixteen, with a variety of methods, composers, styles, musical properties, and other goals represented. Many of the callings in this collection are well known; some even appear in recent editions of the Diary. Others are less well known. Some are exceedingly simple, some complex.
For purposes of this collection the length of a quarter need only be at least 1250 changes, no matter what the stage (i.e. lengths in the range 1250-1259 are included even for Triples and below). Few callings are included longer than 1440 changes, apart from those achieving special ends, such as all the work quarters of 8-spliced major, or date touches.
The collection is organized principally by stage, in some cases subdivided by method, kind of method, or number of methods used in spliced. When there are variations on a composition of spliced using different numbers of methods, the composition appears in the section corresponding to the greatest number of methods used.
There is also a section dedicated to date touches, where all touches of the relevant length are gathered together, without regard to their stage. All such date touches also appear in the natural position in the main body of the collection.
